1-26-24 THOUGHTS
Our desperate need for help at the deepest level can come so quickly, that we need to think about where we will get that help, in good times. I believe that’s what David is doing in the psalm below. 1Sam 2:2 "There is no one holy like the LORD, Indeed, there is no one besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God. Heb 13:6 so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?" The picture is simple and powerful! Our helper never sleeps. “He will keep our souls!” Verse 8, “The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever.” My mind is singing words to “Rock Of Ages”. From memory, will you sing some of it with me?
Ps 121:1-8 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever.
Ps 61:2 From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
My Prayer:
O Lord, our rock and our redeemer, hallowed be Thy name. We lift You up and praise You. May our love for You grow and abound as our hearts seek You with our all. We are so thankful that there is a place of refuge, a rock that is higher than us. Guide our steps and hold our hands, for we know how frail we are. You have called us to a place of honor and holiness through Christ Jesus. O God, please finish the work You have begun in us.In the name of our Savior, Amen.
